What is the list of states that make up the East Coast?

In addition to the District of Columbia, the states that make up the East Coast are: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

The states that make up the East Coast are typically thought of as those that border the Atlantic Ocean. However, Vermont, which is located in New England, does not and only a very small portion of Pennsylvania does.

It is also important to note that due to the size and shape of some of the states along the east coast, a significant portion of their populations are located inland, away from the water. For example, a trip to the beach at the ocean’s edge is a six-hour drive from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The same can be said for the state’s northern regions. A state on the East Coast is home to over a third of the nation’s total population, making these states the most populous in the country. The East Coast of the United States is not only the most populous region but also the wealthiest. The East Coast is home to seven of the ten states with the highest per capita income, including the richest state in the country, Maryland. Virginia, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Washington, District of Columbia are also among the wealthiest states on the East Coast. The fact that the annual household incomes of many East Coast residents have actually increased since the year 2000, a time when the majority of household incomes throughout the rest of the United States began to fall, is the primary reason for the East Coast’s comparatively higher level of wealth.
