What is the colour of sable?

Sable is a dark brown colour that is almost black in appearance. It gets its name from the sable animal, which is a dark brown, silky species.

Because of its brown undertones, sable is considered as a warm, neutral colour, whereas most neutral colours are light. It can be used as a background or accent colour in d├ęcor or fashion with practically any hue.

Fur coats made from sable fur were very fashionable. Because the two feel and look similar, some individuals have used the terms’sable coat’ and’mink coat’ interchangeably. Although the two are not identical, they are both smooth and have a deep, rich colour.
