In comparison to the United States, how big is Brazil?

The United States covers around 3,717,811 square miles, while Brazil covers approximately 3,286,486 square miles. Despite the fact that most map projections understate Brazil’s size in comparison to the United States, the two countries are actually relatively similar in terms of total area.

The United States is slightly smaller than Brazil at 3,043,615 square miles if only the contiguous United States is included, which excludes the 663,300 square miles that make up the state of Alaska. Brazil, however, is a far smaller country in terms of population, with 199 million citizens compared to 314 million in the United States.
