Combine cornstarch, hot water, and powdered drink mix to make henna without using henna powder. Turmeric can also be used as a henna substitute when blended with water.
Combine the boiling water and cornstarch in a mixing bowl.
In a bowl, combine 1/4 cup boiling water and 1/4 cup cornstarch. Mix and dissolve the cornstarch in the water with a whisk.
Pour in the drink mix.
Combine the cornstarch and hot water with two packets of powdered drink mix, such as Kool-Aid. To remove clumps, vigorously stir. Use any colour of drink mix you want, or mix and match.
Turmeric should be used.
Use turmeric instead of cornstarch or powdered drink mix if you don’t have either. Wet a cotton ball or cotton swab with water and pour powdered turmeric into a shallow dish. Stir the turmeric with a cotton ball or cotton swab until it turns yellow. Dip the cotton ball or swab in extra water as needed.
Replace the henna with the henna substitute.
For henna tattoos, these henna alternatives work nicely. Before using the henna substitute, make sure your skin is completely clean. Exfoliate and remove dead skin using a loofah sponge. Using a cotton swab or fine-tipped paint brush, soak up the henna substitute and apply to the skin to make the desired tattoo pattern.
