How Long Should a Story Be?

The height of a single storey in a building differs depending on whether it is a residential or commercial construction. A residential building’s typical story height is 10 feet, but a commercial building’s average story height is 12 feet.

A building’s stories may be taller than others. In a commercial building, ground-floor storeys can be 25 feet or more, but in a residential or hotel building, they can be approximately 15 feet. Mechanical floors, which can be around 25 feet for commercial buildings and 15 feet for residential ones, may be present if the building is quite tall.
