Starring Yul Servo, Rowena Mate, Martin Buen, and Theresa Nisperos Whymark, the film’s story revolves around the character “Madame” (Mate), the first lady of the Republic of the Philippines who is asked by her husband President Franco Ledesma to attend a public event in Cavite as his representative. Despite the fact that she dreads politics and the pressure the public’s eye is putting on their family,  she grants her husband’s request. Joined by her secretary (Whymark), a member of her presidential security group Rodel (Servo), and her driver Jordan (Buen), the first lady travels to Cavite when the earthquake hits. According to the synopsis, the first lady “embarks on her final trip to fulfill her duties as a wife and a public figure to a distressed society where the fault of one person in power can shake and break the grounds where its people’s values are anchored.”

As Lim puts it:

Lindol is a story that tests the firmness of the human soul when it is placed in a situation that is more than just life threatening. When an earthquake struck the metro and all that is left are fragments of all the hard work, dreams, and aspirations of its people; the gap between the upper class and lower class is closed. Status quo proves to be a worthless concept that does nothing more but create a false perception that one is greater than the other. Lindol showcases the vim of the human spirit when shaken and when suffering and death is already certain.

The main cast accompanied by director Theodore Boborol and writers Ceres Helga Barios and Maan Dimaculangan-Fampule were all present at a recent press conference to talk about the movie which is adapted from a best-selling Pop fiction book, The Bet.

The story of Just The Way You Are is about two different people crossing each other’s path in less than ideal circumstances, but who later find themselves attracted to one another. Enrique portrays the role of Drake, a bad boy who makes a bet to make Sophia (played by Liza), an aloof, independent girl, fall deeply in love with him.

At the press conference for the movie, members of the media could not help ask about the closeness between Enrique and Liza who have spent a lot of time together from the time of their teleserye Forevermore up to their latest movie. Many even noticed their sweet display of affection during their production number on variety show ASAP 20 which was also caught in some candid photos. Although both have denied they are a couple, they admitted that they are special to each other.

Just The Way You Are premieres on June 17, 2015 in cinemas nationwide. Also in the movie are Yayo Aguila, Alex Diaz, Jon Lucas, Chienna Filomeno, Marco Gumabao, Myrtle Sarrosa, Kyra Custodio, Miguel Vergara, Yves Flores, Sue Ramirez, Erin Ocampo, Tonton Guitierrez, and Sunshine Cruz.

Masters of the Universe History in a Nutshell

Sometimes referred to as He-Man, named after the lead character, the Masters of the Universe (MOTU) is a franchise by Mattel, an American toy manufacturing company.

With its huge line of characters, the MOTU mainly focuses on the battle between He-Man and the villain Skeletor on planet Eternia.

From 1981-1983, MOTU mini-comics were made available to the public featuring all of the original action figures.

According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Adam Wingard, the indie director behind the indie gems The Guest and You’re Next, has signed on to direct Death Note. The adaptation is now being developed at Warner Bros.

The horror manga follows the story of a student who happens to find a black notebook with the supernatural power to kill anyone whose name is written in it. The student, realizing the extent of the power he has, decides to kill anyone in the world he sees to be evil. This stirs up a deadly game of cat-and-mouse between him and a reclusive police officer. Death Note was last adapted in Japan in 2006, followed by a sequel two years subsequently.

Aside from the directing of Adam Wingard, the thriller will be produced by Roy Lee, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka, with Doug Davison and Brian Witten as executive producers. Niija Kuykendall and Nik Mavinkurve will oversee for the studio.

Wingard replaces previous Death Note director Shane Black.

Disney’s Descendants takes place in a present-day kingdom, where the royal teenaged son of the King and Queen like Beast and Belle from Beauty and the Beast is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making spawn of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters.

These villainous descendants are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma.

In present-day, Ben, the teenaged son of King “Beast” and Queen Belle, is poised to take the throne. He offers a chance for redemption to the trouble-making teenaged descendants of defeated villains exiled to the remote Isle of the Lost.

The villains’ descendants have been granted permission to attend prep school in the kingdom with the Disney heroes’ kids. Maleficent’s daughter played by: Dove Cameron, 16 years of age, a natural-born leader, Mal takes charge of carrying out her mother’s evil plan to steal Fairy Godmother’s magic wand. Another characters on the bad side are Evie as the Queen’s daughter played by Sofia Carson. Jafar’s son Jay played by Booboo Stewart, Cruella’s de Vil’s son named Carlos played by Cameron Boyce.

Evil kids will be the one who will take charge of doing all troubles in the lives of the protagonists. Cruella’s son Carlos played by Cameron Boyce instilled with an ever-present fear of dogs, Carlos joins the other villain kids as they take on prep school at Auradon to capture Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and set their parents free. His tech-savviness comes in handy when he and the other villain teens get stuck in a bind.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy attempted to dig into the past troubles of Robert Downey Jr. during an interview to promote the highly-anticipated release of his new movie, “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The 50-year-old actor became noticeably more uncomfortable when Guru-Murthy referred to a 2008 interview in which the star opened up about how his time in prison affected him, at one point asking: “Are we promoting a movie?”

As Guru-Murthy brought the interview back towards the star’s personal life – referencing past interviews where he spoke about his relationship with his father, drinking and drugs – Downey Jr said: “I’m sorry, I really don’t… what are we doing?”

The actor then made a hasty exit as Guru-Murthy tried to apologise, quipping “it’s just getting a little Diane Sawyer in here” as he left the room.

The interview aired in full on tonight’s edition of Channel 4 News, but Guru-Murthy took to Twitter this afternoon to tease the awkward encounter. He wrote: “Oh dear. Abrupt end to our Robert Downey Jr interview when we started talking about jail and drugs.”

In October last year, Krishnan took part in a now-famously awkward interview with British star Richard Ayoade, who was promoting his book. After five minutes or so of tussling with the IT Crowd star, trying to get something interesting out of the interview, Krishnan brought it to an end.

This started after its owner, Dallas Buyers Club LLC and co-producer, Voltage Pictures, began a worldwide campaign particularly in Singapore and Australia to take action against illegal downloaders, The Straits Times reports.

The Court Ruling

Last Tuesday, the court ruled in favor of the movie studio ordering a “preliminary discovery” wherein the  Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are forced to reveal the personal details of users who downloaded the movie on BitTorrent.

According to Justice Nye Perram, the ISPs will be required to gave the customers’ details so the film studio can start with their piracy hunt. However, only few ISPs were willing to give the users’ information for privacy purposes. In addition, they are concerned about the speculative invoicing wherein the customers will receive letters from them, ordering  large sums of money for the damages. iiNet even said,  “such a development would open the floodgates to further claims by other rights-holders, leading to more Australians being intimidated to pay exorbitant amounts in an attempt to avoid improbable litigation.”

Thankfully, the final decision has been made..and it pleased the service providers, stating, “The result is pleasingly what we expected. By going through the process we’ve been able to ensure that our customers will be treated fairly and won’t be subjected to the bullying that we have seen happen elsewhere.” David Buckingham, iiNet’s Chief Executive Officer, also added, “Letters issued by the rights holders will be reviewed by the Judge to ensure they are not threatening — providing a significant safeguard for our customers.”

The Offenders

According to Voltage pictures, the account holder is responsible for tracing the person/s who violated the law. From schools to institutions, and even prisons,  the illegal downloaders and individual infringers may face fines.

“When you upload to a pirate site you are in effect an illegal distributor, without paying the huge amount the Australian distributor Pinnacle has paid for the rights of Dallas Buyers Club. Those are the people I get angry with — you are not a distributor of the film,” said an Australian distributor.

Meanwhile, this move alarmed the illegal downloaders worldwide. Clement, a Singaporean student who studies in the US said, “Everyone is now warning each other not to download illegally online.”

Dallas Buyers Club is a 2013 American biographical drama film that tells of a man from Texas (played by Matthew McConaughey) who was diagnosed with HIV. He searched for  alternative treatments and when his health improved, he tried to sell it to the public in Dallas. He makes partnership with Rayon (Jared Leto) and soon he created the Dallas Buyers Club, where the members pay four hundred dollars per month to have the necessary drugs. However, along with the process comes his battle with  the pharmaceutical companies and medical establishments. As the government tried to stop him, he finds his way around the system to help those other HIV patients.

The movie is helmed by Antoinette Jadaone, director of last year’s indie hit “That Thing Called Tadhana”, which became even bigger when it got mainstream release last February. That alone, makes “You’re My Boss” different.

Through Jadaone’s artistry, the movie receives a treatment that imbues the storytelling with mystifying appeal. Once again, Jadaone utilizes nature to effectively convey the intentions of the story, making the breathtaking imagery of Batanes work to magnify the level of emotions governing both our lead characters’ story.

Toni Gonzaga delivers her character with utmost credibility here, but its Coco Martin’s irresistable charm that makes their surprising chemistry, truly believable. The movie is naturally funny and loud, but on moments where its most quiet, it treads on themes that usually streak pain and sadness through the heart, and on those instances, “You’re My Boss” highlights the enchanting sceneries of Batanes, to surely hit its aim.

“You’re My Boss’s” sentiments echo almost the same ones that made “That Thing Called Tadhana,” “Starting Over Again” and “One More Chance,” relatably haunting and poignant. Its two lead characters—Georgina, a highly confident and manipulative woman, masking her personal tragedies by dedicating herself almost entirely to work, and Pong, her simple and unassuming assistant—are both haunted by their respective pasts, and are desperately trying to break free from them, and move on.

The movie, regardless of how it’s being naturally charming with its humor and cheesy narrative, manages to strike a chord by sending messages that tackles the disaters of waiting, and hoping, for a love lost, and the promises of second chances and forgiveness.

Albeit formulaic and cliché, “You’re My Boss” is a satisfying movie not devoid of charm. It surely isn’t bereft of imperfections, nonetheless, where it truly matters, it immensely satisfies.
